Folio Learning is an organization that provides free, high-quality educational courses emphasizing interactive, project-based learning and Texas collaboration. Founded by three high school students in Austin, Texas, our mission is to make engaging, practical education accessible to learners of all ages.
Our Origins
FutureScript (Our initial sub-program) was born out of frustration with the existing programming landscape. As high school students passionate about learning, we found ourselves struggling to find courses that met our criteria for effective education:
- Interactive learning experiences
- Project-based curriculum
- Strong community collaboration
- Accessibility and affordability
Traditional online courses often lacked interactivity, while project-based programs were frequently expensive or geographically limited. Collaborative learning environments that fostered a sense of community were rare, especially in the realm of free education.
Recognizing this gap, we decided to create the educational platform we wished existed. Folio Learning was established to provide a solution not just for ourselves but for learners everywhere facing similar challenges.
Our Approach
At Folio Learning, we’ve developed a unique approach to online education that addresses the shortcomings we identified:
